Volleyball Recap: Riverton Wolverines vs. Natrona County Mustangs
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Riverton can now relate to. They fell just short of the Natrona County Mustangs by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. The Wolverines were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mustangs earlier this season, when they won 3-0.
Riverton started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 24-26, 24-26, 25-18, 32-30, 15-13.
Alexis Taylor paced Riverton's offense, picking up 22 kills. Taylor got some help from Halli Weber and her 41 assists. Taylor was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.
Erin Aune was a one-woman wrecking crew For Natrona County. as she had 31 assists and eight digs. With that strong performance, Aune is now averaging an impressive 12.7 assists per game. Brooke Russell also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.
Riverton dropped their record down to 7-23 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Natrona County, they moved to 7-19 with that victory, which also ended their four-match losing streak.
Riverton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Natrona County, they have already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Star Valley on the 1st.
