Basketball Game Preview: Cooperstown Hawkeyes vs. Moravia Blue Devils

The Cooperstown Hawkeyes will challenge the Moravia Blue Devils at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. Cooperstown will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.

Cooperstown is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with a 76-67 win over Waterville.

Cooperstown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Miles Nelen led the charge by putting up 35 points in addition to five rebounds and three blocks. The contest was Nelen's tenth in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Bradley, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 12 boards.

Meanwhile, Moravia had already won 18 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.4 points) and they went ahead and made it 19 on Saturday. They came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 57-47. Given the Blue Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cooperstown's record is now 24-0. As for Moravia, their record is now 19-1.

Cooperstown came up short against Moravia in their previous matchup back in March of 2017, falling 66-59. Can Cooperstown avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
