It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Fort Wayne Northrop ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Homestead Spartans. Winning may never get old, but the Bruins sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Kendall Huth spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Baylee Huth, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Brilee Day, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Fort Wayne Northrop kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Fort Wayne Northrop's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Homestead, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Spartans beat Fort Wayne Northrop by a score of 18-6 later that day.
