Baseball Recap: Manheim Central Triumphs

Manheim Central had won three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they bumped up to 9-3 to make it four. They skirted past the Donegal Indians 2-1. That's more bragging rights for the Barons, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Tanner Travitz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

As for Donegal, they moved to 8-3 with that loss, which also ended their seven-game winning streak. The game marked their lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

On Donegal's side, they saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Cornelius, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Coming up, Manheim Central will venture away from home to square off against Palmyra at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Barons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season. As for Donegal, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ephrata at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
