Basketball Recap: Futures Knights vs. Sacramento Waldorf Waves
The Futures Knights waltzed into their match on Friday with 12 straight wins but they left with 13. They strolled past Sacramento Waldorf with points to spare, taking the game 59-41. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Futures also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Futures' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keylen Garth led the charge by scoring 17 points along with seven assists and three steals. Garth is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Deonta Dorrough, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Futures' victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.4 points per game. As for Sacramento Waldorf, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Futures will challenge the Fire Wolves at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sierra Academy of Expeditionary Learning is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Sacramento Waldorf, they will head out on the road to face off against the Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Woodland Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully the Waves like a good challenge.
