Baseball Recap: Orange Cove Has No Trouble Against Granite Hills

Orange Cove had won three straight at home, but on Monday they bumped their record up to 10-7 to make it four. They put the hurt on the Granite Hills Grizzlies with a sharp 11-1 victory. The Titans not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 12th (when they won 16-0).

The team relied heavily on Josiah Guerra, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Orange Cove is undefeated when Guerra posts three or more RBI, but 6-7 otherwise. Armando Martinez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Orange Cove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Granite Hills only posted an OBP of .211.

As for Granite Hills, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. Their defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

On Granite Hills' side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joseph Magana, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Magana is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played.

Orange Cove didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-4 loss against Corcoran on the 15th. As for Granite Hills, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 12-2 defeat against Mendota on the 15th.
