Baseball Game Preview: ThunderRidge Grizzlies vs. Chaparral Wolverines

The ThunderRidge Grizzlies will face off against the Chaparral Wolverines at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. ThunderRidge has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 10.

ThunderRidge made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Legend, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Grizzlies fell just short of the Titans by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Grizzlies have suffered since April 8th.

Max Bills was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits.

At the plate, ThunderRidge saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shane Christy, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Chaparral faced Mountain Vista in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Wolverines took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Eagles.

Tommy Humphrey was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run. Madden Kretzer also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

ThunderRidge's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Chaparral, they dropped their record down to 11-8 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

ThunderRidge skirted past Chaparral 8-6 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Do the Grizzlies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolverines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
