Baseball Recap: Coronado Beats Palo Duro for Their Third Straight Win

Coronado waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Palo Duro Dons with a sharp 10-0 win. The Mustangs not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since February 28th.

Matt Garcia tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single hit, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Phoenix Vera, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Caden Langill was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Coronado kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Coronado's victory bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Palo Duro, they dropped their record down to 8-13 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, Coronado and Palo Duro will both be playing Plainview the next time they take the field. Palo Duro will head out to face Plainview at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Coronado will host them at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
