Recap: Fort Morgan Mustangs vs. Thompson Valley Eagles

This season hasn't been kind to the Fort Morgan Mustangs, who are still winless after their 13th contest. They had to suffer through a rough 95-37 loss at the hands of Thompson Valley. Fort Morgan was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-17.

When it comes to explaining why Fort Morgan lost on Tuesday, one person who can't be blamed is Tony Mendez. Despite the final result, he scored eight points along with five rebounds. Christian Velasquez was another key contributor, scoring five points.

Brady Kennison was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with eight rebounds and three steals for Thompson Valley. Kennison is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Manzani, who scored 14 points along with eight assists and five rebounds.

Fort Morgan dropped their record down to 0-13 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Thompson Valley, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Morgan will take on Frederick at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Frederick focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday. Thompson Valley won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Severance at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. Severance is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.7 points per game.
