Baseball Recap: Dexter Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Dexter won the last time they faced Whiteford and things went their way on Saturday too. The Dreadnaughts won by a run and slipped past the Bobcats 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Dreadnaughts.

Matt Clayton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dexter's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Connor Robeson, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Another was Noah Fernando, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles.

Dexter's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-7. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Whiteford, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 17-8.

Coming up, Dexter will head out to take on Pioneer at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Whiteford, they will welcome Carlson at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Marauders will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
