Baseball Recap: Brown County Eagles vs. Austin Eagles

Brown County and Austin squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Brown County had to settle for second. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Austin. The loss leaves Brown County still looking for their first win of the season.

Jade Woolems put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Woolems was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run.

Woolems wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kody Shugars, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Brown County's record is now 0-16. As for Austin, they moved to 7-15 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Brown County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Austin, they will take on Brownstown Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Braves' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
