Basketball Game Preview: Highland Park Giants vs. Wheeling Wildcats

The Highland Park Giants and the Wheeling Wildcats will face off at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Highland Park will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

On Friday, everything went Highland Park's way against Niles West as Highland Park made off with a 60-38 win. Given the Giants' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Wolves are ranked 297th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Wheeling was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 53-49 to Prospect.

Highland Park's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points over those games. As for Wheeling, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season.
