Softball Recap: Fort White Beats Chiefland for Their Fourth Straight Win

Fort White came tearing into Monday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let Chiefland get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-1 on April 1st.

Kadence Compton was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sydnee Mills, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Morgan Kelly, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Fort White kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive contests.

Fort White's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Chiefland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-16.

Looking ahead, Fort White will welcome Suwannee at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chiefland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
