Grimsley had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They never let the Davie War Eagles get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Tuesday. The victory was nothing new for the Whirlies as they're now sitting on 11 straight.
Grimsley got a great performance from Jacob Benbow as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Benbow has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Sebastian Rodriguez was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Tai Richmond was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one run.
Grimsley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Davie only posted an OBP of .273.
Grimsley's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Davie, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-14.
