Baseball Game Preview: Archbishop Molloy Stanners vs. Xaverian Clippers

The Archbishop Molloy Stanners will challenge the Xaverian Clippers at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday. Archbishop Molloy is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Archbishop Molloy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They came out on top against Monsignor McClancy by a score of 4-1.

Meanwhile, Xaverian posted their closest victory since April 29th on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over St. Francis Prep. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Clippers.

Jude VanOoyen tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has become a key player for Xaverian: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 9-15 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Justin Rotundi, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Danny Cronin, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Xaverian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 11.

Xaverian's victory bumped their record up to 11-16. As for Archbishop Molloy, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 26-6-1.

Archbishop Molloy skirted past Xaverian 3-1 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Do the Stanners have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Clippers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
