Softball Recap: Santa Fe Trail Gets the Win

Santa Fe Trail won the last time they faced Perry-Lecompton and things went their way on Friday too. Santa Fe Trail came out on top against Perry-Lecompton by a score of 9-6.

Gretchen Huizenga spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, Santa Fe Trail got a massive performance out of Reese Black, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Black has posted since back in April of 2024. Trinity Fawl was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Santa Fe Trail was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .343 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
