Basketball Game Preview: Grand County Red Devils vs. Wayne Badgers

The Grand County Red Devils will square off against the Wayne Badgers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Grand County comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

On Tuesday, Grand County came up short against Green River and fell 71-64.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Nash Jones, who went 10-for-18 to rack up 23 points and six rebounds. Jake Mason was another key player, dropping a double-double with 19 points and ten boards.

Meanwhile, Wayne lost to Gunnison Valley at home by a 68-51 margin on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Badgers in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost nine in a row.

Like Grand County, Wayne lost despite seeing results from several players. Blake Peterson led the charge by putting up 20 points and six assists. The contest was Peterson's sixth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Hunter Robins, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds.

Wayne now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Grand County, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Grand County and Wayne were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in November of 2024, but Grand County came up empty-handed after a 56-55 defeat. Can the Red Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
