Baseball Recap: Petal Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

Petal hadn't done well against Northwest Rankin recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Petal Panthers came out on top against the Northwest Rankin Cougars by a score of 5-2. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 24-3 victory the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Jayden Madison spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Fischer Howell was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Petal pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Northwest Rankin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-9-1.

Petal will have a chance to go back-to-back against Northwest Rankin: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
