Basketball Recap: Roselle Takes a Loss

Roselle was the 73-28 winner over Marion P. Thomas when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Roselle Rams took a 70-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Marion P. Thomas. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Roselle still got an impressive performance from Zaire Hopson, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 12 rebounds. Hopson has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 12 times he's played. Brandon Puryear was another key player, putting up 13 points and five boards.

Marion P. Thomas got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Vincent Loomis out in front who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. With that strong performance, Loomis is now averaging an impressive 8.1 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Nairi Latham, who posted 18 points and four steals.

Roselle's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Marion P. Thomas, they moved to 8-10 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Roselle will take on Johnson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marion P. Thomas has already played their next matchup, a 79-37 victory against People's Prep on the 3rd.
