Trinity Hall extended their winning streak to three on Monday, bumping their season record up to 12-5 in the process. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Rumson-Fair Haven Bulldogs a 12-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for Trinity Hall, who have now won nine games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Emma Mullins made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.
In other batting news, Trinity Hall let Neve McMenamy and Helen Taylor run wild. McMenamy went 2-for-3 with six stolen bases and two runs, while Taylor went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those six stolen bases gave McMenamy a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Riley Tamashunas, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Trinity Hall always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .545 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
As for Rumson-Fair Haven, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. Their loss continues a trend for the team, making it seven in a row.
On Rumson-Fair Haven's side, Lilee Martinelli spent all seven innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and seven unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Reyna Dermer stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Funck, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
As of now, neither Trinity Hall nor Rumson-Fair Haven have any future games scheduled.
