Volleyball Recap: Sacred Heart Takes a Loss

If Sacred Heart was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Sweet Springs on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Gremlins fell just short of the Tipton Cardinals by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Gremlins of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Sacred Heart took Tipton into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 26-28, 25-16, 25-19, 21-25, 15-13.

Despite the loss, Sacred Heart saw an underclassman step up: freshman Sophie Hesse had 17 digs. Those 17 digs set a new season-high mark for Hesse.

Sacred Heart now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Tipton, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Sacred Heart will challenge Green Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tipton, they will take on Christian Fellowship at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
