Basketball Game Preview: Booker T. Washington Hornets vs. Vashon Wolverines

The Booker T. Washington Hornets will face off against the Vashon Wolverines on Friday. Booker T. Washington knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine games -- so hopefully Vashon likes a good challenge.

If Booker T. Washington beats Vashon with 86 points on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Booker T. Washington took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging an 86-25 win over Nathan Hale. The Hornets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 21 points or more this season.

Booker T. Washington found their leader in sophomore Joc Mitchell, who shot 4-for-6 from long range and dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 boards. Mitchell has been hot recently, having also posted three or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Mason Matulis, who went 8 for 11 en route to 19 points and five assists.

On Sunday fans watched as two of the best teams in the nation hit the court. Vashon took a 68-54 bruising from DePaul College Prep. The Wolverines' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Booker T. Washington pushed their record up to 11-5 with the victory, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.7 points per game. As for Vashon, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-2.

Booker T. Washington came up short against Vashon when the teams last played back in January of 2020, falling 62-51. Can Booker T. Washington avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
