Basketball Recap: Brookland Takes a Loss

Brookland was the 60-40 winner over Westside when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Brookland Bearcats fell 64-56 to the Westside Warriors on Thursday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bearcats came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Warriors are ranked 112th).

Brookland's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 16-5. As for Westside, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brookland has already played their next matchup (against Gosnell), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Westside will face off against Highland at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Highland will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Westside surely won't give up without a fight.
