Basketball Game Preview: Chester Clippers vs. Downingtown West Whippets

Chester is 0-3 against Downingtown West since December of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Chester Clippers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Downingtown West Whippets at 7:00 p.m. Chester will be strutting in after a victory while Downingtown West will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Tuesday, Chester was able to grind out a solid win over Penn Wood, taking the game 54-46. The victory continues a trend for the Clippers in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, it's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Downingtown West can now relate to. They fell just short of the Red Raiders by a score of 57-55 on Friday. The Whippets haven't had much luck with the Red Raiders recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Chester's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.5 points over those games. As for Downingtown West, their loss dropped their record down to 14-9.

Chester couldn't quite finish off Downingtown West in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 and fell 48-46. Can Chester avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
