Basketball Recap: Wayne Badgers vs. Panguitch Bobcats
If Wayne was feeling good fresh off their 63-37 takedown of Milford last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wayne Badgers fell 59-49 to the Panguitch Bobcats on Saturday. The Badgers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bobcats earlier this season, when they won 77-71.
Wayne's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jenna Erickson, who posted eight points and six rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Erickson a new career-high in steals (two). AJ VanDyke was another key player, putting up 14 points and eight boards.
It was another big night for Mallory Henrie, who almost dropped a triple-double with 19 points, 20 rebounds, and nine assists for Panguitch. Henrie has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayt Miller, who went 5-for-10 on her way to 10 points.
