Baseball Game Preview: McComb Tigers vs. Raymond Rangers

The McComb Tigers will challenge the Raymond Rangers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. McComb is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

McComb came into this matchup off a tough 19-run defeat on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Richland by a score of 11-9 on Friday. Even though they lost, the Tigers' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.1 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Martavious Huff made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Kevin Quinn, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Huff wasn't the only one working in the hit department: McComb kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Raymond came up short against Lawrence County on Friday, falling 13-1. The Rangers haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Raymond's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for McComb, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Raymond's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: McComb hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. It's a different story for Raymond, though, as they've only averaged .225. Will they be able to contain McComb's hitters?
