A feisty cat fight will be fought as Plant Panthers duke it out with Durant Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Plant is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Plant's offense. They lost 7-0 to Bloomingdale on Tuesday. The Panthers have struggled against the Bulls recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meetings.

Gigi Cozzens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Plant saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kate Compton, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Compton has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Durant made sure to put some runs up on the board against East Bay on Thursday. Durant blew past East Bay 12-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Alina Price made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Price was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one double.

In other batting news, Durant got a massive performance out of Lennox Ullrich, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Carly Rivera was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Durant now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Plant, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

Plant might still be hurting after the 13-7 loss they got from Durant when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Plant avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
