Baseball Recap: Reavis Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Reavis never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Thornton Fractional South Red Wolves with a sharp 10-0 victory. Considering the Rams have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Robert Soto made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Jose Rodriguez looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Shea Wielgos was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Isaac Velasco was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Reavis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Thornton Fractional South only posted an OBP of .250.

Reavis has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Thornton Fractional South, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Reavis will square off against Richards at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Thornton Fractional South, they will face off against Griffith at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
