Firestone had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Ellet on Friday. The Falcons put the hurt on the Orangemen with a sharp 16-1 victory. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by eight runs or more this season.

Nate McGuire spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 16 Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Isaak Nespo, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Luke Rhamy was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four runs.

Firestone always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ellet only posted an OBP of .179.

The win (which was Firestone's fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Ellet, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-7.

Looking ahead, Firestone will face off against Sandy Valley at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday. As for Ellet, they will take on Barberton at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
