Soccer Game Preview: Porter vs. Fort Gibson

Porter is 0-6 against Fort Gibson since April of 2015 but things could change on Monday. The Pirates will head out to square off against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Porter will be strutting in after a win while Fort Gibson will be coming in after a defeat.

Porter's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Central 1-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for Porter.

Meanwhile, Fort Gibson faced Claremore in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Tigers fell just short of the Zebras by a score of 2-1. Fort Gibson's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Porter pushed their record up to 6-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those five matches. As for Fort Gibson, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-3.

Porter might still be hurting after the 5-1 loss they got from Fort Gibson in their previous matchup back in April of 2019. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
