Softball Game Preview: Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest Javelinas vs. Vela Sabercats

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest hasn't had much luck against Vela recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Javelinas will look to defend their home field against the Sabercats at 6:30 p.m. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest has given up an average of 12.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Pioneer, falling 15-0.

Emma De La Cruz was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Sara Mendoza, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Vela always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rowe only posted an OBP of .303.

Vela's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.
