Basketball Recap: Mountain View Skates Past Skyline with Ease

Mountain View waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They claimed a resounding 56-21 victory over the Skyline Coyotes. The Toros have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 21 points or more this season.

Mountain View's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Millie Ahlstrom led the charge by going 6 of 13 en route to 18 points and five steals. Ahlstrom continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Fischbeck, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds.

Mountain View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Despite the defeat, Skyline saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jordan Seiuli posted eight points and 15 rebounds. Seiuli has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last seven times she's played.

Mountain View's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-6. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30 points. As for Skyline, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mountain View will host Cibola at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cibola knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Mountain View likes a good challenge. As for Skyline, they will be playing at home against Browne at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Skyline is facing Browne at the right time seeing as Browne is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
