Softball Recap: Grant Union Comes Up Short

Grant Union scored first but ultimately less than Lakeview in their contest on Saturday. They fell just short of the Honkers by a score of 10-9. The Prospectors were not able to make up for their loss to the Honkers from their previous meeting back in June of 2022.

Addy Northway put in work while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Reece Jacobs was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Savannah Watterson was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three runs and one double.

The defeat snapped Grant Union's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-4 record. As for Lakeview, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

While Grant Union had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
