Softball Recap: Kingston Comes Up Short

Kingston fell victim to Monroe-Woodbury and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crusaders. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Tigers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Isabella Turzik spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

Kingston dropped their record down to 9-8-1 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Monroe-Woodbury, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kingston will welcome Goshen Central at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Gladiators will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Monroe-Woodbury, they will host Pine Bush at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Crusaders 3.2, the Bushmen 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
