Baseball Game Preview: Green Lake/Princeton Tigersharks vs. Montello Hilltoppers

For the second straight game, Green Lake/Princeton will face off against Montello. The Tigersharks will be playing at home against the Hilltoppers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Green Lake/Princeton has three straight victories, Montello has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While Green Lake/Princeton's win against Montello wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigersharks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Hilltoppers on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigersharks have posted since April 4th.

Deegan McCutcheon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Green Lake/Princeton's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kyle Bond, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases Bond has posted since back in April of 2024.

Montello's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Green Lake/Princeton, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
