Potomac School hasn't had much luck against Bishop O'Connell recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will face off against the Knights at 5:30 p.m.
On Tuesday, Potomac School came up short against Georgetown Visitation Prep and fell 3-1. While the Panthers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cubs 25-20 in the first set.
Potomac School started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-16, 25-20, 26-24.

Despite the loss, Potomac School had strong showings from Lily Gurney, who had 12 digs and two aces, and Lara Senyuz, who had eight digs. Gurney is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last five games she's played.
Meanwhile, Bishop O'Connell is ranked highly in their home state and on Thursday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Bishop McNamara. The Knights blew past the Mustangs 3-0.
Bishop O'Connell was especially dominant in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-20, 25-11.
Bishop O'Connell's win came from a few key players Potomac School will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Caroline Semko, who had 11 digs and two aces. That's the most aces she has posted over her last seven matchups.
Bishop O'Connell's record is now 19-1. As for Potomac School, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
Potomac School suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Bishop O'Connell when the teams last played back in November of 2023. Thankfully for the Panthers, Peter Debiec (who had nine digs and two aces) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
