Basketball Recap: Irwin County Comes Up Short

Irwin County had lost five straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 5-12 to make it six. They were beaten by the Brooks County Trojans 74-45. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2025.

As for Brooks County, their record is now 12-7. They not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since December 6, 2025 (when they won 53-22).

Brooks County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Anton Graham led the charge by dropping a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds. Graham has been hot, having posted ten or more boards the last eight times he's played. Jayden Hall was another key player, putting up 17 points.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Irwin County will take on rival Echols County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Brooks County is set to square off against their familiar foe Clinch County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
