Basketball Recap: Asheboro Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Asheboro hadn't done well against Williams recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Asheboro Blue Comets came out on top against the Williams Bulldogs by a score of 55-46. For the Blue Comets, this counts as revenge for the 63-43 victory the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2021.

Despite the loss, Williams had strong showings from Jaeden Smith, who posted 15 points, and Cavion Stokes, who earned 13 points along with five assists and three steals. Smith is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Colby Elliot, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Asheboro's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Williams, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Asheboro didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-47 defeat against Randleman on the 28th. As for Williams, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 70-62 victory against Thomasville on the 28th.
