Preview: Charles J. Colgan Sharks vs. Potomac Senior Panthers
Charles J. Colgan and Potomac Senior are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Charles J. Colgan Sharks will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Potomac Senior Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
In what's become a running theme this season, Charles J. Colgan gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They blew past Hylton 60-20 on the road. Given Charles J. Colgan's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while Hylton is ranked 353rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Brianna Long, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Nadia Grant was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Potomac Senior strolled past Gar-Field with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 55-41.
Potomac Senior's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Saliyah Freeman led the charge by scoring ten points. Another player making a difference was Taylor Allen, who scored 14 points.
Charles J. Colgan has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. As for Potomac Senior, their victory bumped their record up to 11-9.
Charles J. Colgan came out on top in a nail-biter against Potomac Senior in their previous meeting on Tuesday, sneaking past 53-51. Does Charles J. Colgan have another victory up their sleeve, or will Potomac Senior turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
