Softball Game Preview: Lehman Lobos vs. Leander Lions

Lehman hasn't had much luck against Leander recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Lobos will square off against the Lions at 7:00 p.m.

Lehman is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They fell 6-2 to Glenn.

Meanwhile, Leander got themselves on the board against Cedar Park on Tuesday, but Cedar Park never followed suit. They blew past the Timberwolves 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

Kylee Arnold made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rachel Grundei, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Cameryn Beckerley also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Leander kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive contests.

Leander is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lehman, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13-1.

Lehman came up short against Leander in their previous meeting back in March, falling 3-0. Can the Lobos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
