Baseball Game Preview: West De Pere Phantoms vs. Pulaski Red Raiders

The West De Pere Phantoms will take on the Pulaski Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (West De Pere 3.5, Pulaski 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

West De Pere's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when Ashwaubenon hitters got past them. The Phantoms came up short against the Jaguars on Tuesday, falling 11-2. The Phantoms' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Pulaski entered their tilt with Green Bay East on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Red Devils 11-1. The Red Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by nine runs or more this season.

Michael Molthen looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Landon Silva, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Brett Schott, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Pulaski always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

West De Pere's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Pulaski, they pushed their record up to 15-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

West De Pere came up short against Pulaski when the teams last played back in April of 2016, falling 11-6. Can the Phantoms avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
