Baseball Recap: Russell Comes Up Short

If Russell was riding high fresh off their 13-4 takedown of Ellsworth last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Broncos came up short against the Chapman Irish on Friday, falling 25-9.

Brayden Schmidt made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Another player making a difference was Sam Thielen, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Russell now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Chapman, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Irish beat Russell by a score of 15-3 later that day.
