Baseball Recap: Lakewood Wins Going Away Against Neuse Charter

Lakewood's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 17-6 margin over the Neuse Charter Cougars. The win continues a trend for the Leopards in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won eight in a row.

Tyler Tew looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Caleb Neal, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. He has become a key player for Lakewood: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-7 otherwise. Johnson Rouse was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

Lakewood's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Neuse Charter, their loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-9.

Coming up, Lakewood will host Rosewood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Neuse Charter, they will venture away from home to challenge Union at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neuse Charter is facing Union at the right time seeing as Union is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
