Soccer Game Preview: Riverbend vs. King George

The Riverbend Bears will venture away from home to face off against the King George Foxes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. King George took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Riverbend, who comes in off a win.

Riverbend had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the three-goal drubbing they dealt Massaponax on Wednesday. The Bears blew past the Panthers 3-0. Riverbend's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three games.

Meanwhile, after soaring to four goals the game before, King George was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They fell just short of Chancellor by a score of 1-0. King George fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Chancellor since on Tuesday.

Riverbend's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those five matches. As for King George, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.
