Who's up and who's down

The numbers might not have changed much, but the postseason is here and brought about plenty of gameday action in the power rankings this week. Among the games was a one-point thriller between Yankton and Sturgis Brown.

Can't Touch This

Riggs's 54 - 14 win over Spearfish last week had a lot to do with the leadership of sophomore Maguire Raske. Raske rushed for 147 yards and two touchdowns. In fact, our algorithms singled out Raske as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.

This Week's Big Showdown

The showdown between Washington (2nd in the power rankings) and Watertown (16th) shaped up to be more of a takedown. Washington put the hurt on Watertown with a conclusive 49 - 14 victory. The win raised Washington up three spots in the power rankings.

Can't Stop Won't Stop

The Canton offense has been a force to be reckoned with this season, and last week was no different. It took its game against Roncalli by a confident 40 - 7 score. Canton did have the odds in its favor, but the team did even better than the MaxPreps state rankings indicated. With ten consecutive wins, Canton boasts the longest winning streak of any team in the rankings.

Next Week's Big Game

The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Brandon Valley (4th in the power rankings) and O'Gorman (1st). The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games. Given their high-scoring efforts against their previous opponents, we'll see how far they can run the score up this week.
