Preview: Lee County Yellow Jackets vs. Southern Lee Cavaliers
Lee County is 2-8 against Southern Lee since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Lee County Yellow Jackets will head out on the road to face off against the Southern Lee Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Lee County has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Southern Lee will arrive with eight straight wins.
Lee County suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were outmatched by Scotland at home and fell 65-37. Lee County found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 19 to 5 on offense.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Kamaree Butler, who scored 17 points along with two blocks. That was a full 45.9% of Lee County's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Nic Farrow, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Southern Lee can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against Union Pines as Southern Lee made off with a 72-47 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Southern Lee has posted since December 5, 2023.
Lee County has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Southern Lee, they pushed their record up to 15-1 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Lee County might still be hurting after the 63-41 defeat they got from Southern Lee when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Lee County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
