Recap: Anacostia Indians vs. Bowie Bulldogs
The Anacostia Indians suffered their biggest loss since December 6, 2023 on Friday. They were the victim of a tough 57-33 loss at the hands of Bowie. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Anacostia came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked seventh in District of Columbia, while Bowie is ranked 44th in Maryland).
Anacostia's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ta'shaun Robinson, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of LaNiya Jackson, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and four blocks.
Bowie's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Amira Kittles, who scored 13 points. Kittles continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Tatiana Munford, who scored 16 points.
Anacostia has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-7 record this season. As for Bowie, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Anacostia will be playing in front of their home fans against Cardozo at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cardozo is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Bowie, they will head out on the road to square off against Flowers at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Flowers is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
