Baseball Recap: Edgewood Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Hooper Academy last Tuesday, Edgewood Academy came back down to earth. Edgewood Academy fell just short of the Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks by a score of 7-5 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wildcats have suffered since February 24, 2024.

Ethan Evans and John Kujala stepped up to the plate in a big way. Evans scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Kujala scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most hits Evans has posted since back in April of 2024.

With the defeat, Edgewood Academy broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-3. As for Port St. Joe, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edgewood Academy will head out to challenge South Walton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. South Walton's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Edgewood Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Port St. Joe, they will venture away from home to take on Blountstown at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
