Volleyball Recap: Southern Coffey County Takes a Loss

Southern Coffey County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 2-0 to the Marmaton Valley Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 last Saturday.

The 2-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-22.

Southern Coffey County's offense was headlined by Alexis Reidinger and Madalynn Garretson, who picked up three kills apiece. They got some help from Cheyenne Dykee and her three assists. Hailey Honn controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Southern Coffey County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-19-1. As for Marmaton Valley, they moved to 5-14 with that win, which also ended their three-match losing streak.

Coincidentally, Southern Coffey County and Marmaton Valley will both be playing Central Heights the next time they take the court. The Titans will host the Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Wildcats will play them later in the day, at 6:00 p.m.
