Cypress waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They never let the El Modena Vanguards get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 10-0 win last Tuesday.
Not much got past Delaney 'D.J.' Faus, who gave up just three hits to keep El Modena off the board.
At the plate, Makayla Bishop was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Montgomery, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Cypress kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as El Modena only managed three hits.
Cypress pushed their record up to 18-9 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games. As for El Modena, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-8.
Looking ahead, Cypress will be playing at home against Pacifica at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Centurions 3.3, the Mariners 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. El Modena does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
